Nick created the topic: Yoox and Net-a-Porter to merge
Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the merger of the two online clothing shops Yoox and Net-a-Porter?

Net-a-Porter is based in the UK and ships worldwide, Yoox ships all over the world from Italy. Both slightly different from one another, but clearly with some cross-overs in the Women's clothing section where they both sell luxury brands and fashion items.

I believe that Yoox buys last season's unsold fashion, which is why it is able to sell it at a cheaper price.
The two companies reckon that they will have savings of €60million a year through the merger, although the new company will have to raise €200m in orfr to complete the deal, but will create a company with combined net revenues in 2014 of €1.3bn (US$1.4bn, £950m).

Federico Marchetti, founder of Yoox, will be the ceo of the new combined company, he has sai, about the deal:

"This is a game-changing merger between two pioneering companies that have already radically transformed the marketplace since 2000 and will now shift the industry paradigm once again. Together, we plan to expand on our many combined successes and industry breadth to strengthen partnerships with the world’s leading luxury brands and harness a significant untapped growth potential.”

Has anyone had the pleasure, or perhaps displeasure, of using one or both of these companies for buying clothes or anything else, I know I haven't, but would be interested to hear other's thoughts.

Thanks, and happy international shopping!
